[what would YOU do in a faraday cage?] A notion that came to me during some random talk at Usenix: if you put someone in a faraday cage, the first thing they'd do (once they noticed their cell phone wasn't working) would be to drill some holes in it to let in some electromagnetic radiation. I see this as an analogy to computer security (probably security in general). If the protection mechanism causes too much inconvenience, people will actively work to get around it, which will, in the end, defeat its whole purpose.

The first caption reads: Hey, my cell phone isn't working in here.
The second reads: Here, let me drill a few holes in the wall, maybe that'll help.
