[the scientist jug band] I think this is the final installment in the "thrips in the growth chamber" series, as it's gotten quite silly. In case it's not clear, I'm thinking something along the lines of a jug band doing the Charlie Daniels' song "The Devil Went Down to Georgia," specifically the "chicken in the breadpan" lyric. And because this whole series was inspired by a plant biologist, this is a plant biologist (or at least a scientist) jug band. Note that all members are wearing white lab coats (including the one wearing a vest on top of it), one is playing a combination of spoon and pipette (I think he would be the "loveable old coot"), and the eponymous (I don't get to use that word very often!) jug player (the crazy old guy) is actually using an Erlenmeyer flask. I wanted a fiddle player, but kind of ran out of steam. Also, the washboard is merely a washboard, I couldn't come up with some scientific lab equipment I could use instead.

All of these drawings have been pencil sketches, scanned in in gray scale, with only the non-white elements selected, converted to RGB, with brightness and contrast adjusted to darken it, a little selective "burning" to darken a few places, then scaled appropriately. Since it needs a white background, I included that rather than use transparent. images/Drawings/Sketches/thrips4.png
