[it's really a sunrise] I wanted to draw something to mark the day (and also, I haven't been drawing many sketches of late), as today was President Obama's inaugeration. But I'm really not sure what to expect, other than things cannot really be as bad as they have the last eight years. Rather than having something of overt and naive optimism, I kind of prefer something a bit more reflective. I don't have time for subtlety, so the first image that came into my mind was a sunset, mostly because they're beautiful. And certainly there's the notion that things are ending. But it could also be a sunrise, marking the start of things. Or it could be both, depending on your point of view. And like both, things are always changing, in cycles and out of them. So there you have it, a possibly not-too-offesnive, not-too-overly-optimistic, but somewhat hopeful sketch. Not necessarily "the dawning of a new age" but at least marking a particular point in time.

That's quite a lot of garbage for just a quick semi-circle and some lines. images/Drawings/Sketches/sun.png
