[an inked version of yesterday's sketch] The next step was to take yesterday's sketch and "ink" it in Illustrator. I can't draw straight lines (even using a ruler is if-fy), but using the program I could draw the light pole, side walk, and background buildings with straight lines. The detailed work (face, hair) is still pretty primative and needs more work. The lines for the grooves in the pole converve too quickly, but part of that was that I had the "snap to grid" function on, which limited how close together I could get things. I decided to turn the left edge of the background into an alley; originally it was going to be a door (the top will get fixed with the shading). Also, I decided the sidewalk could have an incomplete, sketchy look to it rather than give it a lot of detail here. Tomorrow is basic shading with more Illustrator. images/Drawings/Sketches/lightpole2-ink.jpg
