[I'm sure it's perfectly safe.] A friend works in a building with a freight elevator and at some point I helped her move some stuff. She mentioned how she has to be careful opening and closing the heavy metal doors and gates so she doesn't lose a finger. And it slowly lumbers up and down, with a jerk. She said it's a scary elevator. And that turned into scelevator which evolved into skelevator which would be just as scary, but in a skeleton elevator sort of way.

Then she asked if I could draw a picture of that. It put me in the mind of black and white 1930s era Mickey Mouse or Betty Boop style cartoons. Looking for source material I used the video from 2000 of The Squirrel Nut Zippers' song The Ghost of Stephen Foster as a reference. Here is a full size version of the drawing.
