["Can you hear me, Private Tom? Can't you hear me, Private Tom?"] I wanted to draw something, so I did. The first doodles were just weird, poorly drawn people. Then I decided to make a poorly drawn biplane instead. I didn't bother with any source material, just freehand, Photoshop, and trying to remember what Daffy Duck looked like flying in a biplane in the cartoon "Duck Amuck" (again, I haven't bothered looking).

Just some fun with Photoshop. I used a number of layers, so the ground and the plane are separate. I copied the plane lines and then did a simple flood fill on the lower layer. A few bits through the windscreen are in a partially transparent layer. Then for the ground and sky, I used the Cloud Rendering Filter, and for the sky I used a gradient to make the clouds fade away closer to the ground. The ground and sky are two separate layers, but were origially split just by a freehand lasso. At the end I drew some mountain shadows and then generated a line at the top of the hills using the Magic Wand to set a path, then used edit->stroke for the path and got rid of anything below the ridge line.

I thought about drawing a person or cartoon charater in the cockpit, but decided it would take too much time and wouldn't really fit into the idea anymore.

It'd been a while since I've piloted a plane, and I've never flown or flown in a biplane. It's certainly cheaper to just use my imagination... images/Drawings/Sketches/biplane.png
