[This is a partial answer to: what could possibly go wrong?] I'm going to be taking a trip soon. First time I've been flying since the pandemic. And going to Florida, a state that's been behaving badly in many was in recent times. Looking at things from the pessimistic side, this is sort of what I imaging things could be like. Yeah, I'm painting things with a pretty broad brush, etc. etc., but I'm trying to set my expectations low, so with a little luck, things won't be this bad.

I drew a rough sketch of this in via photoshop. Then I took it and "inked it" in illustrator, as well as colored it. I used a lot of layers, so that the seats would obscure the rows behind them. And actually, each layer is actually two: one with the colors and one with the lines of different thickness. And then brought it back into Photoshop to crop the final image and make a screen-size version. I started it last night, and then finished it tonight. I was surprised I could get it all done that quickly. I didn't do any shading or fancy stuff. Oh, and I actually drew and inked a fearful grimace on the main character and then had the mask on another layer obscure it.

I wanted the main character (a "me" that doesn't look like me) to be in the center. The random things behind him would be mosty covered by the announcement and other stuff, so all of that didn't have much thought. And so that the foreground wouldn't steal the attention, I had the two people in front silhouetted. They also are COVID people. I liked how the 'cough!" has a covidy look to it. The various speech bubbles are kind of random assorted stuff. I was getting bored of background stuff so I started to just put more off-the-wall stuff. There's a pig. Next to it is a strange Gonzo-like character mostly obscurred by a speech balloon. Behind him is a dog.
