[It kind of looks more Peter Gabriel-ish.] For various reasons, I bought some white ink pens. And then I got a spiral book of black paper from a friend who was trying to get rid of art supplies she didn't need. Other than some dorky tests, this was the first drawing I did trying to capture the kind of anti-lines, anti-dark that is the point of using white ink. I took a picture that had a face (it was the robot-fist source image—in the original I'm frowning and trying to look grim but then decided to shadow it since it was a distraction from the glove) and used the GIMP "threshold" function to turn it into a monochrome image, and used that as a reference to sketch. It was quick and not perfect, and doesn't look like me (which is fine), but I like the shadows. The lines along the right side are the rings of the spiral notebook. I decided to keep those in for fun.

Not bad for my first try. A big higher resolution image is here. images/Drawings/Sketches/white-ink-face-sm.png
