[Remember, it's only a sense of perspective, not a real perspective. And it's pretty warped anyway. At least mine is...] My niece recently turned 40. For reasons approaching beyond my control (or stamina), I'm late with her birthday card. But I came up with an odd idea, drew it, and will be mailing it very soon (so soon, really). I thought I'd try something different than my usual drawings, something that's challengint to me: straight lines. Then I was thinking of drawing some objects in perspective. That got me thinking of ways to factor 40 which led be to 5 2x2x2 cubes which are easy to draw, but hard for me if the lines have to be straight. Then I thought drawing them with something approaching proper perspective would make it harder, so I did. I used a ruler and a pencil to get the basic lines, then a ruler and a pen to ink it. Then I decided to draw a sort of grid with that perspective. The belt was an afterthought, but if fit the caption that popped into my head. I added the legend in case it was not clear there were 40 cubes in the picture. Simple, but it's a thing and it's done. Huzzah! And yes, this image is shrunked down a bit. The full size picture isn't that different, but still included. images/Drawings/Sketches/40th-perspective-sm.png
