[The WWI Anzac Shrine of Rememberance in Brisbane] Lots of places in Australia have Anzac Memorials to the Australia and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC) troups killed in WWI. Sydney hash a large ANZAC Momument in Hyde Park. In Brisbane, it looks like a Roman structure. I noticed it when I walked past it during the day, but the way it was lit made it more striking at night. The 18 columns symbolize the year 1918, when WWI ended. This article has more details on the shrine. The granite checkerboard squares reflecting the lights at night give it an almost unreal, computer-generated look. At the center is an eternal flame (visible in the here full size image). images/Photos/BNE-anzac-memorial-sm.jpg
