[A frozen moment, frozen in time.] Last Thursday, I went on a walk with a friend downtown and we stopped by Ithaca Falls. It was in the mid-20s, which was better than it had been for a week or two. The waterfalls had turned the place into The Kingdom of Ice. The Falls had cauliflower-like growths of ice, but the whole area had been flooded with water, so it was impossible to tell where the shore ended and the stream that came from the falls began. It looked cool and no one else was around the area. I asked Sue to take a picture. Water is actually flowing on the left and right edges of the middle third of the falls. And there's a narrow cutaway 30 feet beyond me with fast rushing water, and I assume the ice within 10 feet of it is probably thin. I didn't want to venture out to see where it got dangerous. Anyway, January was more or less a typical old-school winter. The full resoluteion picture is here. images/Photos/frank+icefalls-sm.jpg
