Subtitle: Saturday, October 31, 2015 was our annual Halloween Hat Tournament for our ultimate frisbee group (IAUA). The weather was decent. Cool, but sunny-ish. In the upper 40s/lower 50s. Warm enough for most once we started running around. We had enough for 4 small teams (30-ish people or so), and lots of people cam out in costume. People seemed to have fun. Here are some photo highlighlights. # photos 000-DSC_8437: I think that kind of sums up the IAUA Halloween Hat Tournament... 001-DSC_8322: Jeff looks serious. His suit suggests he is a completely legitimate businessman without any mob connections whatsoever. You got a problem with that? Addendum: I didn't realize he was Donald Trump. Mostly because Jeff's such a nice guy, I don't think of him and "that guy" in the same sentence. 001-DSC_8323: ♪ The Phantom of the Opera is here, inside ♪, er, Lauren's mind. Or maybe ours. It's actually a repurposed dressage jacket. 002-DSC_8325: Marcia IS: ♪Na-na na-na na-na na-na na-na na-na na-na na-na♪ BAT GIRL! 003-DSC_8327: Niki and Taylor are, um, in costume. 004-DSC_8328: Bill is a tomato (though he looked a little apple-ish at times). 005-DSC_8330: Jeff...apparently just woke up. 006-DSC_8332: Dave is ... a rock star? Jeff Lynne? Collene is some sort of Cleveland Cavs, Lebron James sports fan? 007-DSC_8333: Gavin is...here! 008-DSC_8334: Tasha is sort of Ragety-Ann-ish? 009-DSC_8336: Todd is a hippy. Come to think of it, I suppose he should have paid the no-costume fee... 010-DSC_8337: 011-DSC_8340: Rob and Garret with amazing costumes that are dead-ringers for Garret and Rob! 012-DSC_8345: Frank is Rick from Rick and Morty. I didn't get a picture of Bryan in the background wearing his ape mask. He took it off early because he couldn't see, and if anyone made eye-contact with him, he considered it a threatening move and attacked them. And let's not talk about what he flung besides frisbees. 013-DSC_8349: Gavin explains the rules, including having each time use a distinctive face-paint design. 014-DSC_8350: Marcia paints Rob's face. 015-DSC_8351: And Jeff's face. 016-DSC_8353: 017-DSC_8355: Gavin puts a peace-sign on Taylor's face. 018-DSC_8356: Lauren puts a peace-sign on Bill's face. 019-DSC_8357: Howie is marked (note that he has a perfect Howie costume), and Taylor cat-ifies her nose. 020-DSC_8358: The paint...it burns Emily's face. Or maybe she just doesn't like having to take off her sunglasses. 021-DSC_8359: Marcia paints herself. 022-DSC_8361: Taylor is ready to go and leopard up the game. 023-DSC_8362: Emily gets catty too. 024-DSC_8363: 025-DSC_8364: OK...our team decided that a couple of hard-to-see lines under our eyes were lame. So we then went to adding mustaches. 026-DSC_8365: Bryan mustached up. 027-DSC_8366: Rob looks a little Mario-esque. 028-DSC_8368: I was happy that Macia didn't give me a Hitler mustache. Still too soon for that sort of joke... 029-DSC_8372: Frank's ready to open a portal to a universe where he's a better player. 030-DSC_8373: Ray's the perfect frat-boy. Get it, brah? 031-DSC_8376: Instead of playing with a beer in one hand, he played with a beer in each hand, brah. He also didn't stop fucking saying "brah" all day. 032-DSC_8377: Leopard Taylor pulls. 033-DSC_8380: Colleen catches. 034-DSC_8381: Niki plays D against Taylor. 035-DSC_8382: Phantom Lauren throws, while her friend tutu-Karen covers her. 036-DSC_8383: Tasha makes a great catch. 037-DSC_8384: Gavin dumps the disk while Ben defends him. Yetter has an amish-ish? hat and Dave's wig is attached to his foot. 038-DSC_8385: Karen-of-the-tutu makes an endzone catch while Todd looks on. 039-DSC_8387: Garret has the disk, Lili is behind him wearing a hat because she is cold, with Yetter running in. 040-DSC_8389: Jeff and Dave both try to get the disc. 041-DSC_8390: Todd and Bill take a break on the sideline. 042-DSC_8392: Lili catches the disk near the endzone. 043-DSC_8393: The disk is in the endzone and Bryan and Garret vie for it. 044-DSC_8394: Garret and Bryan fight for the catch; I think Garret came up with it. 045-DSC_8395: Rob catches one in the endzone. 046-DSC_8397: Eric will not win the prize for best costume. 047-DSC_8400: Eric represents the "Frisbie Pie Co." and has a pie tin that can be thrown as a frisbee. The last point of the 3-team bok-choy game was played using the pie tin. It didn't go far, but it did float a good bit. It was a long point. 048-DSC_8401: Ruth (in her usual wooly-bear caterpillar costume) points out that I should take a picture of what's going on by the tree. 049-DSC_8402: And that would be Jeff behind the tree, doing...something. 050-DSC_8403: Ruth catches the pie tin. 051-DSC_8405: Jim is a ...wait for it... one night stand (hypenate is you wish). 052-DSC_8406: Even though it's the end of October, there is still a lot of color in the trees. The Johnson Musuem at Cornell is visible above the trees on the right. It really is a very pretty area. 053-DSC_8407: Luke is taking pictures of the game too with a nice camera and expensive, big-ass lense. His costume, early on, was Road-Warrior-ish, with a jacket with an armored shoulder-pad. 054-DSC_8408: People taking a break between games. 055-DSC_8410: Jeff throws the frisbee to me. I move the camera and catch it. 056-DSC_8412: Note: Taylor now has a tail. Also, Jeff no longer has a way to tie his bathrob closed. 057-DSC_8413: Sippy's costume is a trash bag. So he's going as some swill-throws? Or trash-talking? Or maybe that was the first object he saw. Lili has added at least one or two more layers to stay warm. 058-DSC_8414: Jeff describes some of the super-power objects, like the skeletal hand... 059-DSC_8415: ...which can be used to extend the defense's reach. Others include hopping instead of running, walk with the disc until touched by the defense, get two-points for catching the disc in the endzone sack, use your off-hand, and the ever popular "hump-D." 060-DSC_8416: Plotkin gets in the game, with a super-power bow-tie. He has to throw left-handed. He is left-handed. 061-DSC_8418: The disk comes to Emily... 062-DSC_8419: ...and she catches it. 063-DSC_8420: Emily is either chastising her team or suggesting a group hug. 064-DSC_8421: Jeff makes a head-catch in the endzone (the throw probably was a hammer). 065-DSC_8422: Lauren is by no means a small person—except when covering Will. 066-DSC_8423: Dave gets the disk and... 067-DSC_8424: ...throws a backhand, while Apples is looking to D it. 068-DSC_8425: Taylor winds up a forehand. 069-DSC_8426: 070-DSC_8428: Wally stops by while Ruth takes a break. 071-DSC_8429: Eric runs into the endzone after a disc. 072-DSC_8430: He dives... 073-DSC_8431: ...and comes up with a great catch! One of my favorite shots. 074-DSC_8433: The leopard is on the prowl. This is one of my other favorite pictures. Taylor started off a number of points in the crouching-and-hunting-her-prey mode.
