Subtitle: It's art, damn it!
A Cornell art student had an art installation called "Featherlight
(foul falls)" at Ithaca Falls on
Friday night, September 26, 2014. It involved a bunch of birds on poles,
made from the material from sacks of rice. They were supposed to be
eagles, but looked like seagulls to me. Big lights light the area
and cast shadows on the falls. It was neat. My friend Ellen, whom
I ran into there, took some pictures of me and the event with her phone.
The photos below are all courtesy of Ellen Chase.
Here is an article from the Cornell
student newspaper on it.
frankbird1: I waved one of the birds around, by the gorge wall.
frankbird2: Ed poked his head in to get into the picture.
frankbird3: Somehow I thought "flappy birds" would be more fun.
frankbird4: A nice shot of the shadow on the wall.
frankbird5: I was having fun, although sometimes I got too close to the wall
and the bird would brush against it, sending a shower of shale onto my head.
people1: A shot of the people in the light. I like the silhouetted
people in the forground.
people2: It kind of looks like they're filming a TV show or trying to
unearth the artifact before it is too late.
shadowfalls1: The Falls on the left side of the picture, lit by the
industrial lights.
shadowfalls2: More falls action.
