Subtitle: I went to the Johnson Museum of Art at Cornell today, Sunday
April 3rd, 2016, mainly to see Matthew Schreiber: Crossbow, an
installation in a small room that consists of a series of red lasers
forming neat patterns. You walk through the space, occasionally
getting blinded by the lasers. It's quite neat. Felt like something
from either Tron or some movie about a jewel heist.
I took some
pictures while in the room, sometimes by myself, sometimes with
others there. I think 3 different people asked if I could take
a picture of them with their camera. They have a little fog in
there to make the beams visible.
I also recorded a 1 minute video while in the room
here.
If you listen carefully, when the camera gets zapped by a laser,
you can hear me say, "cool!"

006-DSC_4473-headertext: Technically this
000-DSC_8539: 3 people in the middle of the pattern. Notice the
grid pattern by their feet as well.
001-DSC_8540: Exploring the space...you can see the silhouette
of one person's arm in front of the beams.
002-DSC_8542: A neat pattern.
003-DSC_8543: These were serious-looking lasers.
004-DSC_8547: A laser-show-looking pattern.
005-DSC_8549: One false move and ... (it looks quite painful, but isn't).
006-DSC_8550: "Hey...why is there that red dot right on my ugggkkk****"
007-DSC_8551: At times when they were walking through the laser field,
the bright dots on them looked like a sort of crown. By the time I took
this picture, it was now shoulder height.
008-DSC_8552: A picture just above the plane of crossing.
009-DSC_8553: Looking towards, though not directly at, the laser sources.
010-DSC_8555: Another picture looking towards the sources.
011-DSC_8561: You can hide, but you can't run.
012-DSC_8562: More laser art.
013-DSC_8563: Another shot of the crossing plane. I like this one.
014-DSC_8564: Lasers, lasers, and more lasers.
015-DSC_8565: Above and below.
016-DSC_8566: zzzztttt!
017-DSC_8571: I asked someone to take a picture of me. My head was just
above the grid, with a few hitting my face. I'm wearing a ski cap (on yeah,
it snowed today and was damn cold out, woo hoo). It was hard to explain
the shot I wanted and how my camera worked. So this was as close as we got.
018-DSC_8572: More art.
019-DSC_8575: The guy who took the picture was trying to be a
Beautiful International Jewel
Thief, and get below the grid. His friend's feet are next to him.
020-DSC_8576: Yet another pattern.
021-DSC_8577: One of first rules in the Beautiful International Jewel
Thief handbook is that if you're in a room field with lasers and are
below the grid, don't sit up! Sorry, game over...
