Subtitle: A small fishing town and a hike in the woods.
We went to Mnemsha on October 14, 2023, and John Presbury Norton Farm
on October 15, 2023.
Mnemsha is a small fishing village on the northwest part of the Island. It has a beach, a couple seafood stores, and a number of artists there, showing and selling their works. At this point it was long past "the season", so none of the shops were busy, and many of the people were happy to chat with us. Very different in the middle of summer where everything is crowded and crazy. 001-DSC_7471: A seafood market where we bought some fresh seafood. 002-DSC_7473: Lots of little single room buildings. Some are now artist studios. I liked the swoardfish sculpture on the door. 003-DSC_7474: They sold fish as well as ready-made dishes. 004-DSC_7475: I liked how this fish looked against the cedar shingles. 005-DSC_7477: Halloween-festive sculpture (note the Peter-Pumpkinhead top added, though sadly it's not orange). 006-DSC_7478: A lost and found box on the beach. 009-DSC_7481: The Mnemsha public beach in mid-October, with two people in the water! 010-DSC_7482: A third person is walking to join the two in the water. 011-DSC_7483: As far as I know, none in the water died from hypotermia on the spot. 013-DSC_7485: The empty lifeguard stand (swimming is permitted though the water is cold). 015-DSC_7487: I guess it's part of Chilmark. 016-DSC_7488: Artwork! I thought it was a weird Bart Simpson at first. 017-DSC_7489: An art gallery we visited. Jewelry, antiques, etc. The owner was friendly. 018-DSC_7490: At a photo gallery, the owner showed me an 8,000 year old arrowhead he found. He had a lot of shallow underwater photography of rocks. They were really clear and colorful and looked quite cool. 019-DSC_7494: The boat visible in the window passed by while I took this picture. 020-DSC_7496: Pete Puma! "I'm gonna get me a rabbit, and I'm gonna eat him! Eyyyyeeeee!" 021-DSC_7497: My reflection in the car's window. 022-sad-tree_Panorama-header: The John Presbury Norton Farm 022-sad-tree_Panorama-headertext:
The John Presbury Norton Farm is
a trail through the woods is part of the
Martha's Vineyard Land Bank.
It's on the north-central part of the Island. It was very woodsy
and didn't feel like we were on a relatively small island.
It being a woodsy area, there were a lot of trees, as one might expect.
But many were kind of odd looking trees that had facial expressions.
Most of my pictures are mug shots of some of the trees.

023-DSC_7499: Just keep backing it up, you've got plent of—ooops!

025-DSC_7502: Open your mouth wide and say "ah!" On second thought,
please stop.
026-DSC_7503: "Oooooooo. Tastey humans!"
