I drove up to Niagara-on-the-Lake in Canada, with two friends,
Stephanie and Newman. We stayed in a very nice B&B. We explored
the little town, which is 20 minutes north of Niagra Falls, and then
next day went to Niagara Falls, still on the Canadian side. It's all
quite pretty and the Falls are always impressive. I did a hand-off
to a friend of Stephanie's, who then brought them north to Toronto
to continue their vacation visiting friends and family, and I headed back home.

Niagara-on-the-Lake is a small town in Ontario, Canada on the Niagara peninsula (actually an isthmus separating Lake Erie and Lake Ontario). It's about 20 minutes north of Niagara Falls and has a small residential area and is a tourist destination. It's quite pretty and in May had plenty of people around but didn't feel super-crowded. Apparently it is quite busy in the summer. 001-DSC_8716: Trying to figure out if this is the Coach House B&B. 002-DSC_8717: The big coach in the front yard is a hint that this is the right place. 003-DSC_8718: Lake Ontario looking north from Ryerson park. The bar-graph skyline of Toronto is visible on the horizon in the center of the full resolution image. And to the left of it is probably Mississauga. 004-DSC_8719: Ryerson Park and Lake Onterio, a few blocks from the B&B where we stayed. 006-DSC_8721: The trail along the northern end of Niagara-on-the-Lake with Lake Ontario to the left and the at the end of the Niagara River where the trail turns to the right. 007-DSC_8722: The path turns inland to the golf corse and Fort Mississauga. 008-DSC_8723: Fort Mississauga National Historic Site 009-DSC_8724: The point where the Niagara River meets Lake Ontario. 010-DSC_8725: The trail east of Fort Mississauga where the Niagra River ends. 011-DSC_8726: The river-facing side of the tower at the center of where the fort was. 012-DSC_8727: Stephanie reads about Fort Mississauga. 013-DSC_8729: Some history of the Fort and its location. 015-DSC_8731: Rapidly beaving away from us, the brown blob in the center is a beaver. 017-DSC_8733: The design of the fort. 019-DSC_8738: This is a centotaph to Canadian war veterans. 020-cenotaph_Panorama1: Panorama of the centotaph at the enterance to the center of town. We drove down to Niagara Falls on Wednesday morning and wandered around for an hour or two. We didn't have time to do anything organized, like a tour, but seeing the falls was pretty cool, and the weather was nice. 030-DSC_8753: 031-DSC_8754: 033-DSC_8756: Newman and Stephanie 034-DSC_8757: Newman and Stephanie 035-DSC_8758: 036-DSC_8759: The plume of mist rising from the falls just beyond where we were. 038-DSC_8761: A few of the horseshoe falls. 040-Niagara_Falls_Panorama2: A panoramic view of the Horseshoe Falls of Niagara Falls. 041-DSC_8776: There's a funicular to take tourists up or down a hill with a scenic view. 042-DSC_8777: Frank by Niagara Falls on the Canadian side. 043-DSC_8779: Frank reacting to something imagined by Niagara Falls. 044-DSC_8780: The left side of Niagara Falls (Canadian side). 045-DSC_8781: The Rainbow Bridge over the Niagara River with the American side Falls. 047-DSC_8783: 048-DSC_8784: 049-Niagara_Falls_Panorama4: Another panoramic view of the Niagra Falls Horshoe Falls. 050-DSC_8805: A tourist boat tries to approach Niagara Falls. 053-DSC_8808: Another tourist boat tries to approach the Falls. 054-DSC_8809: Stephanie and Newman 055-Niagara_Falls_Panorama3: The Horseshoe Falls of Niagara Falls (Canadian side). 056-DSC_8813: 057-DSC_8814: 058-DSC_8816: 059-DSC_8817: 060-DSC_8818: Cool churned up water just beyond the bottom of Niagara Falls. 061-DSC_8819: More views of Niagara Falls and the misty plume of water it creates. 062-Niagara_Falls_Panorama1: A panoramic view of Niagara Falls with the Obervation Tower on the left. 063-DSC_8823: A nice big clock on the grass near Niagara Falls. 065-DSC_8825: Maybe this time the boat will be able to penetrate the mist that shrouds Niagara Falls.
