Subtitle: A hike in Sapsucker Woods on a snowy day, January 18, 2014.
-pond_Panorama_oval: This is a panorama of the pond, mostly frozen, taken from the 2nd floor of the Lab of Ornithology. This is the thumbnail, so you probably don't want to click on the huge link. It's made up of around 24 pictures. Because it was a bit non-uniform around the edges, but I reall wanted to keep the pond, I made an oval crop of it from photoshop. Ducks are grooving in the lower left corner, and the tall tree in the upper right has a camera on it near a nest (which is currently unused).
a-DSC_6153: Ducks in the mostly-frozen pond, having fun.
-DSC_6154: The right hand side of the pond.
-DSC_6155: The far side of the non-frozen part of the pond.
-DSC_6156: Trees surrounded by ice in the pond.
a-footbridge: This is a 2-picture panorama of the footbridge.
-DSC_6185: Fun with photos—a close-up of branches with and without snow.
-DSC_6186: Snow on branches.
-DSC_6187: More snow.
-DSC_6188: Some snow on an evergreen tree.
-DSC_6192: This is one of my favorite pictures of the set. So wintery! The bridge and stream lie about two thirds of the way along the loop trail.
-DSC_6193: Another shot of the stream and bridge.
a-snow_path: A 4-image panorama of the path heading back to the Lab of Ornithology. The branches and snow gave it a nice tunnel effect.
-DSC_6204: Some weird funky fungus on a snow-topped branch. I used a flash for that one, which is why a few of the snow flakes are sparkling.
-DSC_6205: Red berries of some sort, vividly standing out against the white snow. This is along the side of the road that separates the two sets of trails.
-DSC_6206: The Andy Goldsworthy Acorn thing made of thin slabs of shale. This was also the inspiration for a story I wrote called The Guardian.
