Subtitle: We were supposed to be able to see the northern lights (auroa borealis) on June 24, 2015. So I went up to Mt. Pleasant by the Cornell observatory to check them out with a few co-workers. Turns out we couldn't see any of the lights, but it was a really clear night and a even though the observatory wasn't open, there were a lot of people out there and I took a bunch of pictures of the stars. DSC_8033: Cool looking stars, visible on the bigger version. DSC_8034: DSC_8036: Sparse star field. DSC_8037: A plane was flying overhead. It was a pain to twist the tripod to orient it so I could get the plane (it was flying almost straight overhead) but I did. The streaks are the plane's lights (position and anti-collision). DSC_8040: A picture of a group of people near us. DSC_8041: A longer shot of people near with a tripod. DSC_8042: Silhouette of Deepika using my tripod to take some star pictures. DSC_8046: Another star field. DSC_8047: DSC_8050: A shot looking north, with the glow of city lights and the silhouette of poewr lines. DSC_8059: A tree with stars above and the Milky Way. DSC_8067: Another shot of the Milky Way. DSC_8068: More Milky Way.
