# # Remember: Put spaces after the colon in the tag name # Subtitle: These are pictures that Sara took from her and Tom's visit to Ithaca in August 2014. Frank's pictures are here. IMG_9783-header: Ithaca Falls IMG_9783-headertext: Our first stop was Ithaca Falls. A nice waterfall, and very easy to get to. IMG_9783: Frank and Tom checking their cameras, phones, and camera-phones. IMG_9785: Tom scans for signs of intelligent life. IMG_9792: Frank describes the gorge formation using obscure geological hand gestures. IMG_9799: Tom stands out on a rock to get pictures of the falls. IMG_9801: IMG_9802: Frank takes a picture of Tom taking a picture of the falls. IMG_9809: Frank, taking a picture of Sara, taking this picture. Frank's pictures are available from the link at the top. IMG_9810: Frank showing Tom the picture he took of Sara. IMG_9812: Frank pointing out something either obvious or obscure to Tom as they stand on the bridge near Ithaca Falls. IMG_9833: Tom and Frank with Ithaca Falls in the background. IMG_9875-header: The Cornell Dairy Bar IMG_9875-headertext: Next, we went to the Cornell campus, stopping at the Dairy Bar for some local ice cream. I hadn't been there since they reopened it in its new building. It was quite good. IMG_9875: Frank and a Dairy Bar fake cow. IMG_9876: IMG_9877: Tom and Dairy Bar cow. IMG_9887-header: The Johnson Musuem of Art at Cornell IMG_9887-headertext: While on campus, we stopped at the Johnson Art Musuem. Basically, I wanted to show them the view of the area from the 5th floor gallery. But we also spent some time looking at the art there. IMG_9887: Tom and Frank look at some art in the 5th Floor Asia Gallery of the Johnson Museum, while Sara takes the picture. IMG_9888: Tom and Frank look at some odd, funky art at the Johnson Museum. IMG_9897-header: A Flight Over Ithaca IMG_9897-headertext: I gave Tom and Sara a ride in a Cessna Skyhawk (C-172). We flew over Taughannock Falls and then Ithaca. IMG_9897: Frank checks if there's enough fuel for the flight. There's not. IMG_9898: Tom and Frank pull the plane up to the fuel pump. IMG_9899: And by "pull up the the pump" I mean, tug on the plane. IMG_9900: More tugging. IMG_9901: More pulling of the plane. It was only slightly uphill. IMG_9902: Frank fills the right wing fuel tank. IMG_9903: More gas. IMG_9904: Posing after filling the left wing fuel tank. IMG_9905: Then they push the plane back from the pump. IMG_9906: And a bit more pushing. IMG_9907: Frank does the pre-flight inspection. The flaps are lowered to the full 30° setting to inspect them. Everything looks OK. IMG_9920: IMG_9921: IMG_9922: IMG_9923: IMG_9924: IMG_9926: Frank and Tom in the front seats, shortly after the engine start. The GPS is showing the basic map. IMG_9927: Frank and Tom right before takeoff. The GPS is showing satellite receiption. Likely I was changing the screen to check the time off right before we took the runway. IMG_9932: Tom looks out at the view of Cayuga Lake below. IMG_9961: In the air. The altimeter indicates a little over 2500' above sea level. IMG_9962: Frank demonstrates to Tom some sort of maneuver with his hand. IMG_9963: And we keep banking like this... IMG_9964: ...until our wing hits the ground. Actually, I have no idea what I was telling him. IMG_9965: Frank flying and the view down below of Ithaca. IMG_9972: Sara and Tom next to the Cessna 172 Skyhawk we flew. IMG_9973: IMG_9974:
