The fountain at Christiania torv in one of the oldest areas in Oslo. After a fire in 1624, the Danish-Norwegian king Christian IV decided to rebuild the town (and rename it it Christiania). Some of the buildings date from the 17th century. The story is that he pointed to a place saying where the new town would be. The fountain with the hand pointing to the spot is a memorial to that story.
