Just like George Harrison's solo album title, All Things Must Pass, and it was time for me to head into the west. Not in any metaphorical sense, just to fly home to Ithaca. Of course west required traveling various other directions first. The first stop was walking to the train station. Followed by a train back to London and King's Cross Station. Then the "tube" to Heathrow airport. Then go through all the security and whatnot. Then be baffled by all the duty free stores that have prices and sizes of items making it impractical to buy anything. Then the 15 minute walk to the gate. Then waiting as they cool the plane down from 99° (yes, the gate agent said it was 99 degrees; they didn't say Fahrenheit, and they never said 38 Celsius). Then a flight to Newark, New Jersey. Then more whatnot items like customs, passport control. Then taking an airport train to a different terminal. Then checking in through security again (waiting for the TSA to find someone to answer their repeated, goose-like calls of "male opt out! male opt out!" so I could get my Freedom Grope), then getting to the gate, then taking a bus to the plane, then taking the plane to Ithaca, then driving home. Yup, I think that covers most of the song's on Harrison's album...

Anyway, they were fine with Stephanie going to the train platform with me. When I got on the train, I decided it'd be cool to take a " going away" shot, and fumbled to get my camera out. Stephanie picked up on what I was doing and cooperated and I got a picture before the train left. And then...it still didn't leave. It sat there for a couple of minutes before going, so again, she cooperated and undestood my vague gesticulations behind the window, and switched the mood to bored.

I took a few pictures from Canada at altitude, where water and ice were visible below, and then some pictures on the approach to Newark. The next set were of the mass of lights in the New York City area at night as we left Newark, and finally the "welcome home" Ithaca provided me with a mid-to-late April snowstorm. There was no jet-bridge, so we had to walk from the plane to the terminal. I hadn't brought my winter jacket on the trip. It wasn't that bad, just enough to say &qouot; when you least expect it, expect it!"
