The Trip to Fairbanks

First some travel pictures of the trip from Rochester, NY to Minneapolis, MN, to Fairbanks, AK.

A shot of me on the plane (Franks on a Plane? maybe someone should pitch that to a Hollywood agent). Then Stephanie and me on the plane (that'd be the sequel). And one of the food service during the flight. Food service consisting of a drink and and a few grams of peanuts (not even a bowl full of gruel).

A shot out the window of the plane at 36,000 feet en route to Minneapolis. And a shot of the "You Are Here" map at the Minneapolis airport.

The House in Fairbanks, Alaska

First a few shots of the house where we stayed. Roger built the additions to it himself. Though it looks like a small log cabin from one side, the expansions make it quite roomy.

He built a greenhouse only about a month ago. There are a lot of white Aspen trees around their property.

More woods around the house. A kind of entrance archway in front of their house. Their hosue is deceptively large. The part with the deck is old, the part behind it (with newer looking wood) was added in the last few years (with some parts still under construction on the inside). Quite a nice place.

Another shot of the archway, from the other side. A view of the backside of the house. It's built into a hill so from the front it looks like it's one story, while from the backit has a lot more. There's a loft on top, the main level below that, below that are bedroms, and a basement with top level windows at the ground floor. The kitchen is in the old section which is quite cute and nicely organized. Stephanie was making a snack in it.

Tanana Valley View

Roger and Carrie's house is in the north east side of town. I went walking up the road which has a nice view of the Tanana valley. It wasn't clear enough to see Denali, but there were some mountains that were part of the Alaska Range in the distance.

The valley. Views in the distance. And smoke from a small fire is visible in the distance.
