Just a couple shots of some cool spider webs on a three trunk, and a fungus growing on the ground.

Two views from Eagles Crag, and a signpost, which shows how to get to: Black Woods Campground (right 1.9 mi/3.0 km), Route 3 (1.2 mi/1.9 km), Cadillac MTN (left/behind 2.3 mi/3.7 km), and Eagles Crag (left/forward 0.1 mi/0.2 km).

The trail got more rocky as we hiked higher and higher up the mountain. Spots of green among and granite. The view also got better and better.

There was a small pond about halfway up the mountain. A good resting spot. The last shot is of a rock that just didn't seem to fit in with the other rocks in the area. Perhaps a present left by a glacier?

The signpost points to: Jordan Pond (left 2.6 mi/4.2 km), Cadillac MTN. (right 0.5 mi/0.8km), Eagles Crag (left 2.0 mi/3.2 km), Blackwoods Campground (left 3.9 mi/6.2 km). The second shot is of a lichen-covered rock. And the third is of a cut tree, with branches that were going out in all sorts of wild directions.

The first shot is a view of Bar Harbor from the top of Cadillac Mountain. At low tide there are sand bars by the islands that give the town its name. The second shot is at the gift shop at the top of the mountain (yeah, I know, that's why Hillary and Tenzing climbed to the top of Everest, too). There's a road to drive to the top of Cadillac Mountain (we drove up the first night), and on our way down, the first part was along the road. It's cool because it looks like it drops off to nowhere. And there's granite fragments all along the side of the road, as if some giant kitchen countertop used to be there, millions of years ago...

Here I'm doing my imitation of Sisyphus, trying to roll the rock up a hill. And once again, that little pond, but this time it's on the way down.

Since signs aren't easy to place on the rocks, and there are no trees towards the top of the mountain, the trail is marked by cairns, or a pile of rocks. This one sort of looked like some kind of rock-thing with two rock eggs below it. There were fuzzball sort of things that looked cool on the floor of the forest. Not sure if they were some sort of moss type thing or just hatched from alien pods.

A shot of some lichen, as we got back to the forest area. And a rather blurry shot of a tree with fungus on it.

As I recall, the first shot was outside of some hemp store where they welcome dogs, but not people with ice cream. So much for providing for all of my hemp needs. The next two shots are of Jordan Pond.

Yet another sign talking about glaciers. That's the problem, when you don't have a glacial geologist handy, you have to resort to taking pictures of the signs and then analyzing them back at home in the lab. The second shot is of a cool looking rock at the edge of Jordan Pond, and the third is of the clear water along the shore.
