I flew the flying club's Mooney (7CF) from Ithaca to Martha's Vineyard. Nice clear day to fly.

Fulling Mill Brook Preserve is a hiking trail in a wooded area (with a brook that goes through it) is part of the Martha's Vineyard Land Bank, located in Chilmark, near Beetlebung Corner. Also, there's some hills on the trail, something I don't really associate much with the Island.

Farm Pond Preserve, near Oak Bluffs, is part of the MV Landbank. There's a path that goes around the pond, mostly a wooden walkway above the wetland area, which then heads into the woods. It goes to the Trade Winds Field Preserve (grass strip airport and another MV Landbank site).

The East Chop Lighthouse is one of the two lighthouses on the north side of the island (as one might guess, the West Chop Lighthouse is the other one). We stopped there on the way back, so I stopped and took some pictures.

The ferry Island Home was finishing loading and about to depart. I took a few pictures of it. And then the doors closed and it immediately departed. The last picture was taken of the harbor just to the left of the ferry docks from the obervation area on the second floor of the Steamship Authority building.
My sister was meeting a friend for coffee, so I spent an hour or so wandering around Vineyard Haven. I went into some of the art galleries, got ice cream, and then walked to the ferry, Owen Park, the Vineyard Haven Library, and more.

While I was taking pictures of a foggy morning, I heard the siren indicating that the drawbridge was going to open. I took a series of pictures of traffic stopping (this is the only traffic light on the entire island), the gates coming down, then the bridge opening. And then eventually the process reverses. I didn't actually get any pictures of the boat passing through the bridge, though I got one picture of a small motorboat cruising across the Lagoon. I liked mysterious feel to the fog.
I woke up on Saturday morning and we were pretty
solidly fogged in. It's always foggy in the morning when I play to fly from
Martha's Vineyard, so I'm kind of used to it by now. It started to improve
around 11am, and was fine by 1 or 2pm (although still cloudly enough to
require instrument flying).
I decided to take some pictures since
the fog was pretty thick and gave the boats and other objects in the Lagoon
have a very stark, isolated look.
