A friend invited me to her Halloween party (there were a bunch of young
kids there). So I decided to make a Spooky Salad, to fit with the
theme and also because it's not too hard and I can eat it. Mostly it
involved carving some things. The radishes came out the best, the mini
peppers were good and also I'd eat them (I'm not too fond of radishes).
The celery wasn't terribly cooperative and it was only at the end that
I thought to make a rib-cage out of them. Some of the other things kind
of got lost in the mix (roasted garlic can look like slugs or just another
random shape. I took pictures of it before I put the dressing on the
salad so it wouldn't be overly shiny with the oil reflecting the light
but it's still hard to tell what some things are. I only used the
camera-mounted flash, as I didn't feel like playing around with my other
flash in remote command-mode.
The dressing was a basic Italian-ish...I suppose a gloopy, chunky green
dressing might have been appropriate, but I probably wouldn't have wanted
to eat it. I tossed the salad after a while so people wouldn't be afraid
of ruining it and not eat it, though I think it was probably late
in the game. And I didn't expect the kids to eat a salad either.
