Oil Spill Super Cleanup: Part 4
  [Aquaman: bosses fish around]

June 12, 2010

He's the obvious one, yet somehow I forgot about him till now. Finally, a story involving Aquaman, King of the Seven Seas, that's not completely contrived so it can involve water. Seems like he'd be the perfect person for the job.

Except, his power is basically getting fish to do his work for him. And cleaning up toxic oil spills really isn't the strong suit of marine life.

I should note this is the Justice League/Superfriends era Aquaman that I remember. Two fully functional hands and no long Poseidon-like flowing locks,

Pencil sketch and ink done by hand, then scanned in to be processed, cleaned, colored, shaded, and otherwise messed with using pen tablet goodness. I think the shading is pretty decent in places.

Both pictures were based on images found on the web. The first was mostly a hand-drawn rip-off. The second was a twist on Aquaman #45 inspired by this image which is a modification of #45 dealing with him and the oil spill (so yes, there are no new ideas). However, it was a girl mourning Aquaman's death, so his pose and position are my doing.

I tend to doodle. Over the years, I've accumulated lots of random sketches of things, sometimes people, sometimes things, and sometimes just abstract lines. The basic idea on these pages is for me to slowly scan in highlights from my collection of random quick doodles. I also am providing a place where I can explain what it is or what motivated it or perhaps some reason why I'm not to blame. With the sketches of people, their name may be hand-written, or there might be a talk title provided, but I will tend to avoid providing full names. I don't mind if people know who they are, I just don't want them coming up on search engine hits, since that might be a bit rude.

Note that the images are PNGs with transparency. Mozilla and Firefox properly render them. Safari too, I think. Internet Exporer doesn't. I don't care.
If you want to see the image without the annoying blue-lined background image, just click on the image.
