May 30, 2020 I wanted to draw something, so I did. The first doodles were just weird, poorly drawn people. Then I decided to make a poorly drawn biplane instead. I didn't bother with any source material, just freehand, Photoshop, and trying to remember what Daffy Duck looked like flying in a biplane in the cartoon "Duck Amuck" (again, I haven't bothered looking).Just some fun with Photoshop. I used a number of layers, so the ground and the plane are separate. I copied the plane lines and then did a simple flood fill on the lower layer. A few bits through the windscreen are in a partially transparent layer. Then for the ground and sky, I used the Cloud Rendering Filter, and for the sky I used a gradient to make the clouds fade away closer to the ground. The ground and sky are two separate layers, but were origially split just by a freehand lasso. At the end I drew some mountain shadows and then generated a line at the top of the hills using the Magic Wand to set a path, then used edit->stroke for the path and got rid of anything below the ridge line.I thought about drawing a person or cartoon charater in the cockpit, but decided it would take too much time and wouldn't really fit into the idea anymore. It'd been a while since I've piloted a plane, and I've never flown or flown in a biplane. It's certainly cheaper to just use my imagination... |

I tend to doodle. Over the years, I've accumulated lots of random
sketches of things, sometimes people, sometimes things, and sometimes
just abstract lines. The basic idea on these pages is for me to slowly
scan in highlights from my collection of random quick doodles. I also
am providing a place where I can explain what it is or what motivated
it or perhaps some reason why I'm not to blame. With the sketches of
people, their name may be hand-written, or there might be a talk title
provided, but I will tend to avoid providing full names. I don't mind
if people know who they are, I just don't want them coming up on search
engine hits, since that might be a bit rude.
Note that the images are PNGs with transparency. Mozilla and Firefox
properly render them. Safari too, I think. Internet Exporer doesn't.
I don't care.
