Frank's Sketchbook Entry of the Day

I found a piece of paper that had been in my pocket that I had used for various notes (it's my cell phone). On it was, more or less, the basic joke, which reminded me that I had the idea of the two forms of the word bass, and then without any delay, Bez had come up with the punchline. So I finally got around to drawing it.

I decided I wanted this one needed to be understandable in just black and white, without the extra color cues to show what was going on. Similarly, I didn't spend any time adding shading. I also decided I didn't need to add scales to the fish and make it visually complicated. I think it worked. Some bits of the hands are OK, some aren't. I also got a little better understanding of 'live paint' mode in Illustrator, but decided not to use it.

The rock star is no one in particular. The bottom left is Bez-like (but I didn't use any photos as references), and the one on the right was from a generic reference photo of someone covering his face with his hand, since if I tried it myself, I couldn't see what I looked like... In a way, it's morally modeled after Rob, since he seems to truly despise puns.
