Red Lentil Dal with Roasted Vegetables
  [a simple but effective combination]

September 30, 2021

I made red lentil dal tonight, since it's quick and easy to make. The downside is it's a little boring. I had made some roasted vegetables last night, so I added them as a garnish (broccoli, eggplant, and onion), and it added a nice texture and flavor that complimented the dal. And I've cleaned up almost everything, took a picture, and uploaded it and I still have 30 minutes until a Zoom meeting. Huzzah!

Oh, I wound up taking a few pictures. I realized I needed the flash so things would look sharper, but the wide angle lends shadows part of the light from the built-in flash. So I pulled out the externally mounted one. I wasn't sure about the batteries but it fired up right away. I took one shot with indirect/bounce lighting that I didn't like, then this one (which wound up taking two because I held the shutter down an instant too long). I was using the diffuser, but other than that, I didn't set anything, it just worked. Again, huzzah! I did a little cropping for style in Lightroom. The full-size image is here.

I tend to doodle. Over the years, I've accumulated lots of random sketches of things, sometimes people, sometimes things, and sometimes just abstract lines. The basic idea on these pages is for me to slowly scan in highlights from my collection of random quick doodles. I also am providing a place where I can explain what it is or what motivated it or perhaps some reason why I'm not to blame. With the sketches of people, their name may be hand-written, or there might be a talk title provided, but I will tend to avoid providing full names. I don't mind if people know who they are, I just don't want them coming up on search engine hits, since that might be a bit rude.

Note that the images are PNGs with transparency. Mozilla and Firefox properly render them. Safari too, I think. Internet Exporer doesn't. I don't care.
