Frank's Sketchbook Entry of the Day

I had lunch today with Timothy. We usually trade off who picks up the tab but neither of us really knew, so we decided to come up with a seemingly simple answer that had sufficient ambiguity: even or odd. We'd count to three and on three (not after) we would both hold up one or two fingers. Or no fingers. I would be odd, he would be even. We both put up one finger. It seemed pretty odd to me, but he decided since they were equal we were even, though he was more even.

I thought it might make an amusing cartoon, but then I didn't want to have endless frames with just a few lines of dialog that would kind of be going nowhere. So instead I just started to make a rough sketch of my impression of the scene. Since it's getting to the end of the month, I thought it'd be good to have an actual drawing this month, rather than just a photo (though the photo took me hours to edit and this one was 15 minutes or so). But I didn't want to spend too much time on it, so a quick doodle seemed fine.

I drew it quickly in Krita using the touch screen laptop, which is kind of hard to draw on vertically. The two figures do not resemble me nor Timothy in any way other than we were both at a table holding up one finger (but our hands looked more realistic). The waitress was not there watching our battle, nor did she look anything like the drawing. But the bottle of soy sauce at the table kind of has a passing resemblance to what I drew.

As I'm fond of saying, "There's a fine line between good, and good enough." I think this is good enough for what is called for at the moment (which is the complete lack of the need of having any straight lines or lines that match up with each other).
