August 31, 2024

Three motivations here. 1. Other than yesterday, I haven't put much up here recently. 2. I had doodled this on a calendar page that turned into scrap paper and it looked a little cool. I think this was me playing with a Micron pen. And anything else I was trying to draw would take too much time. 3. Someone at work used the word 'calendar' as a verb instead of a noun, as an activity she wanted to do. I really didn't know what she meant, since certainly she couldn't have meant "schedule" or "put something on a calendar" since those are existing terms that are unambiguous. As I was cropping and cleaning up the image, it occurred to me that perhaps I had been "calendaring" when I was drawing doodles on a calendar (hence the title). But really, I imagine it means creating a calendar, and that takes way more effort than I'd want to do. Anyway, when I was originally doodling on the paper, I just wanted to draw some cool '70s-looking swirly patterns. For those who are curious, the page is from July 2024 (last month), and I had printed the month in the wrong form, so it became a page with a lot of straight lines at 90 degree angles, kind of starter fodder for doodles. Addendum: the smaller image looks better, cleaner, to me, but the full size scan is here.

I tend to doodle. Over the years, I've accumulated lots of random sketches of things, sometimes people, sometimes things, and sometimes just abstract lines. The basic idea on these pages is for me to slowly scan in highlights from my collection of random quick doodles. I also am providing a place where I can explain what it is or what motivated it or perhaps some reason why I'm not to blame. With the sketches of people, their name may be hand-written, or there might be a talk title provided, but I will tend to avoid providing full names. I don't mind if people know who they are, I just don't want them coming up on search engine hits, since that might be a bit rude.

Note that the images are PNGs with transparency. Mozilla and Firefox properly render them. Safari too, I think. Internet Exporer doesn't. I don't care.
If you want to see the image without the annoying blue-lined background image, just click on the image.
