Looking for a Friend?

I'm still just playing around with Krita and the default brush which is an ink pen. I started just drawing some curvy lines, and it turned into the eagle's beak, so I went with that. With the stern expression on his face I think I might have wanted to give him a stern pose. He's rather aggressively leaning forward, which wasn't necessarily intentional, but kind of worked. Then I put him on a perch, but it was floating in the air, so I made it attached to a pole that was high up. "How high?" you might ask. Quite a bit. "Can you be a bit more specific?" you continue. Fine, I'll show you how high. So I decided I'd draw some things on the ground, like rooftops of houses. I mostly wanted to suggest what they were because drawing things accurately requires drawing straight lines.

Then I thought about the term "eagle eyed" and thought about putting thick glasses on the eagle, but if I didn't like them, I didn't want to have to undo it (and this was a simple drawing so I wanted to keep it on one layer). So I drew the glasses in the big blank area in the upper right quadrant. And then for reasons of which I'm not certain, I drew a second, younger bird attached to the glasses.

I was going to draw a dashed line from the eagle's eyes to the smaller bird in an "I'm watching you and don't like you" way, but I don't know much about making Krita go right now. I tried modifying the brush and let's just say it didn't turn out the way I was expecting (alternatively, we could also say it looked like the eagle was projecting a "sperm-vision ray" and even though I've no idea what in the hell that would be, that's what it would look like).

Moving on, I added some clouds to continue to suggest it's up high and added some wooden texture to the pole and called it a day. The full size image is here.

I tend to doodle. Over the years, I've accumulated lots of random sketches of things, sometimes people, sometimes things, and sometimes just abstract lines. The basic idea on these pages is for me to slowly scan in highlights from my collection of random quick doodles. I also am providing a place where I can explain what it is or what motivated it or perhaps some reason why I'm not to blame. With the sketches of people, their name may be hand-written, or there might be a talk title provided, but I will tend to avoid providing full names. I don't mind if people know who they are, I just don't want them coming up on search engine hits, since that might be a bit rude.

Note that the images are PNGs with transparency. Mozilla and Firefox properly render them. Safari too, I think. Internet Exporer doesn't. I don't care.
