April 05, 2024 I decided that I might try making some sort of tapas-like dish this week while grocery shopping, so I got an eggplant. Tonight I needed to cook something and thought maybe some fried eggplant like thing might be good. I had had a fried eggplant dish in Spain last week which was OK and while it wasn't ham (I was really getting burned out on serrano ham), it was pretty oily, though it did count as a vegetable. I looked through some online recipes to get some ideas and I saw one for an Almost no-oil Pan Fried Eggplant which sounded interesting. Basically, you brown the sides and then add water to steam them. I topped it with a variation on a Sauce Vierge recipe that was easy to make based on the ingredients I had. I included some sun-dried tomatoes, forgot the lemon, and added a little chipotle and smoked paprika. I think it worked pretty well. The full-size picture is here. |

I tend to doodle. Over the years, I've accumulated lots of random
sketches of things, sometimes people, sometimes things, and sometimes
just abstract lines. The basic idea on these pages is for me to slowly
scan in highlights from my collection of random quick doodles. I also
am providing a place where I can explain what it is or what motivated
it or perhaps some reason why I'm not to blame. With the sketches of
people, their name may be hand-written, or there might be a talk title
provided, but I will tend to avoid providing full names. I don't mind
if people know who they are, I just don't want them coming up on search
engine hits, since that might be a bit rude.
Note that the images are PNGs with transparency. Mozilla and Firefox
properly render them. Safari too, I think. Internet Exporer doesn't.
I don't care.
