The City of Linköping
I went to Sweden to attend a conference and visit a friend.
The trip ran from Thursday March 19, 2026 to Tuesday March 31, 2026.
This page includes pictures from Linköping (pronounced "linSHURping"),
wandering along the Kinda Kanal, then the City Park, and the Linköping
Cathedral on Saturday March 21, 2026. It also has some sunset/evening
pictures, mostly from my hotel room.

Walking along the Kinda Kanal
The Kinda Kanal (canal) is part of the Stångån river which flows from
the south to the north passing through Linköping just east of the
central (train) station.
There are trails that go along the sides of the canal and
various bridges that cross the canal. My hotel was two blocks
from the central station, so I walked to the canal and headed
south for a bit exploring the area. It was a very nice day
and lots of people were out and about.

Walking by the Tannefors Neighborhood of Linköping
Tannefors (the s at the end is pronounced with an sh-sound) is a
neighborhood east of the city center, just beyond Stångån. When the
walking path on the east side of the Kinda Kanal ended because it was
closed for construction, I decided to just head a little east and backtrack
north through whatever neighborhood was there to explore it a little and
then cross the canal at Drottningbron. It was a mostly residential area
with some businesses on the main street. I crossed the bridge and instead
of continuing on Drottninggatan, I headed a block south and then continued
west on Linnegatan to head to the city park.

The Linköping Cathedral
Linköping
domkyrka ("dom-shurka") has been around since the 11th century
(around 800 years old) as a wooden church, and became a stone church
around 1120. It was influenced by English and German architecture.

Linköping at Night (or Sunset)
There were a couple nights that I saw a nice sunset or a cool post-sunset
after-glow. There were yellow stratus clouds and fiery sky with a
churning turmoil of clouds. Once darkness settled in, the illuminated
hands on the cathedral's clock tower could be seen. Also, I took one picture
of the street at night a block from the main square. It had rained and
there was a nice reflection of light coming off the stone street.
