Drawing a Blank
[I didn't have time to add the painter, but then it would be called Drawing a Drawing a Blank Drawing. And then it'd need to get recursive.]

March 13, 2026

I met up with a friend at a coffee shop today (full disclosure: I had tea) and when he took a brief bathroom break, I decided since there was nothing else to do, I should draw something. But it shouldn't be complicated both because there wouldn't be much time but also because all I had was a napkin handy. Also, I didn't want to draw anyone there because it would have been obvious and probably creepy to both parties. But I needed an idea. Fast. And none were coming. So I decided to roll with what I had, which was nothing. And I'd draw someone drawing (or having drawn) a blank. I was able to draw it quickly and then show it to my friend when he returned. There was a moment's delay after I said, "I couldn't think of anything to draw, so..." before it clicked. I declare that as Mission Accomplished. And there's no point for a higher resolution image, you just see the napkin's texture better.

I tend to doodle. Over the years, I've accumulated lots of random sketches of things, sometimes people, sometimes things, and sometimes just abstract lines. The basic idea on these pages is for me to slowly scan in highlights from my collection of random quick doodles. I also am providing a place where I can explain what it is or what motivated it or perhaps some reason why I'm not to blame. With the sketches of people, their name may be hand-written, or there might be a talk title provided, but I will tend to avoid providing full names. I don't mind if people know who they are, I just don't want them coming up on search engine hits, since that might be a bit rude.

Note that the images are PNGs with transparency. Mozilla and Firefox properly render them. Safari too, I think. Internet Exporer doesn't. I don't care.
If you want to see the image without the annoying blue-lined background image, just click on the image.
